About Geekistry

Geekistry: What geeks do.

…but Geekistry isn’t exclusively about things traditionally thought of as geeky, like technology and gadgets, but about being passionate about what we do and how we embrace ‘geek culture’.

On Geeks

Millions of years ago, the Earth cooled. Out of the primordial ooze rose organisms that had a love and passion for the world around them. They understood how their world worked. Over time, they began to make their world better with the knowledge they have gained. These people needed a name, a name that would show the world that they have a thirst for knowledge, and a passion for beauty.

Geeks.

On Geekistry’s Genesis

Michael Gaines – Creation of this site was a culmination of several years, name changes, and hundreds of ideas written down on an iPhone, Google Docs, napkins, and notepads. After it finally took final form and coalesced into the site you see now, we purchased the WP-Launch theme from SoloStream, and modified it to fit our needs.

Music is a big part of how I work, and yet time after time I found myself listening to Steve Roach while working on it. Specifically, I’ve become intimately familiar with “Immersion”, “Midnight Moon”, “Magnificent Void”, and the classic “Structures From Silence”.

Text editing was done on TextMate, until the 30-day trial ran out. I suppose I should get on that. The rest of the time I used Text Wrangler. Bare Bones Software rocks.
