I dialed the phone number 1-800-521-1980 at least 1,000 times to hear the short promotional messages about the next Star Wars Movie coming out. I lived in a small East Texas town with an old phone switch so no one had pushbutton (tone) dialing - I had to actually 'dial' the phone number. All those 8's, 9's and 0's took forever to dial but I did it anyway!!! And it was fun! Our small school had a dial pay phone and I dialed this number on that phone many times during break and lunch. I just so happened to think about that phone number today and I suddenly reaized that TOMORROW is exactly 30 years after the release of the movie! I cannot believe I thought of it. Those were very good times for America and Texas and Han and Luke and Leia.

I saw the first movie 32 times, staying in the theatre for two showings most times..I was 12 and it was the most amazing thing I ever experienced and nothing every really compared. I brought a tape recorder to the drive-in, and now I had the dialog memorized. The music..The special effects..The characters...The story..I was in awe.
Sadly, as a 16yo the second movie had far less of an impact on me. How sad, yes?
